Aurora MR and Mustang Alpha Starter Packs
When starting in Star Citizen all you really need to jump into the verse is a copy of the digital download of Star Citizen and a ship.
The Mustang Alpha and Aurora MR starter packs are the two entry points to the verse. They both contain a ship, access to the game, and a certain amount of game credits called UEC, usually it will be 1,000 UEC. (You can get an extra 5,000 UEC by using the referral code: STAR-9G4T-S5Y4 when you create your Star Citizen account).
Let's dive into what the differences between the Mustang Alpha and Aurora MR are.
The Aurora MR
The Aurora MR will be your everyday can do a bit of everything starter ship. Easy to use, you can use it to do delivery missions as well as the early bounty hunting missions. It's the most affordable starter ship you can get that has a bed so you can logout, come back and start right where you left off.
By default the Aurora MR comes equipped with:
- 2 size 1 Laser Repeaters
- 2 size 1 Shield Generators
- 1 size 1 Power Plants
- 2 size 1 Coolers
- 1 size 1 Quantum Drive
The Mustang Alpha
The Mustang Alpha is your go to starter ship if you want to dive right into space combat. It has the design of a light fighter aircraft and is made of ultralight alloys to push its engines. You can get to some unsafe limits with it. It now also has some cargo capacity to do delivery missions.
The Mustang Alpha comes equipped by default with:
- 2 size 2 Laser Cannons
- 2 size 1 Shield Generators
- 1 size 1 Power Plants
- 2 size 1 Coolers
- 1 size 1 Quantum Drive
All the components of these Starter Ships are upgradeable once you earn enough credits to do so.
A Game Package with any of these two Starter Ships is all you need to enjoy Star Citizen. When you get a grip of how to earn credits in the game you will be able to upgrade to bigger ships and grow your fleet.
